Campground Hookups

What's at the pedestal — power, water, sewer and dump — at every overnight on the route.

Compiled September 2026 from campground operators and RV directory listings. This isn't an official caravan document — the parkers and the campground office are the last word. Confirm anything you're planning around.

How to read it

Only one campground on the route — Neepawa — actually publishes its electrical service. Everywhere else the amperage comes from RV directories, and at Thompson those directories flatly contradict each other. So each stop below carries a tag saying where its numbers came from:

Campground the operator's own site or booking system
Caravan word from the caravan on the ground
Confirm directory listings only, or the sources disagree
Not published nobody states it — go by the parkers

Site counts matter as much as service type. A campground with 191 sites and 17 full-hookup ones is an electric-and-tanks stop for most of us, whatever the summary row says.

The detail

Stop by stop

Winnipeg — Town & Country Campground

Full 30- and 50-amp hookups, both at the rendezvous and on the way home. The only stop where everybody gets full service without thinking about it.

Neepawa — Lions Riverbend Campground

30 amp only — there's no 50-amp service anywhere in this park. Of 48 sites: 16 are full service (power, water and sewer), 8 more have power and water but cap at 25 feet, and 23 are electric-only. One site has water and sewer but no power at all.

Ten sites take a 50-footer; the rest run shorter, so rig length drives which one you get more than service level does. The campground doesn't list a dump station — one directory says there is one. Worth asking at the office when you check in.

Dauphin — Dauphin Recreation Centre Caravan

Change of plan. Vermillion campground (191 sites) couldn't be reopened after this summer's flooding, so the group is parking at the Dauphin Recreation Centre, 200 1st Street SE. It's a paved lot, not a campground. Most of us will have 110 V plugs; some will have a 30 amp connection. No word on water or a dump, so plan on your tanks and go by the parkers.

From Hwy 10, take 10A north onto Main Street and look right for the rec centre just before the railroad tracks. Showers and restrooms inside are free for a set period — tell the front desk you're with the Airstream group outside.

Swan River — Green Acres Confirm

20- and 30-amp service, no 50. The best-served stop after Winnipeg: roughly 30 to 34 of about 40–47 sites are full hookup, with water at the site and a central sani-dump. Pull-throughs are generous at 30 × 100 feet.

The itinerary has you dump before leaving on the Swan River morning — worth doing even if you're on a full-hookup site, because The Pas and Flin Flon are thinner.

The Pas — Opasquia Exhibition Grounds Not published

Described by the operator as 20 fully serviced lots — which in Manitoba usually means power, water and sewer at the site — but the amperage isn't published anywhere and neither is the service breakdown. Go by the parkers on this one.

The itinerary again has you dump before leaving for Flin Flon.

Flin Flon — Flin Flon Campground & Tourist Park Confirm

The City's own figures: 70 sites, of which 24 are electrical and 46 aren't. No water or sewer at the sites — there's a dump station and modern washrooms with showers. Directories put the powered sites at 30 amp; the City doesn't say.

One night only, so tanks carry it — but arrive with power in mind if you need it, because two thirds of this campground has none.

Thompson — McCreedy Confirm

30 amp, and this is the stop where the sources disagree most. One directory lists 51 sites with 29 powered, only 2 with water, and a central dump station. Two others list 76 sites with full hookups including sewer. Somebody's wrong and it isn't resolvable from here.

What is settled: shore power stays on while you're in Churchill, which is what lets the electric heater run in your rig for those five days. See winterizing in Thompson.

Grand Rapids — Cook's Campground & Cabins Confirm

30 amp with water listed; no sewer at the sites and no dump station indicated. One night on the way south, so it's a power-and-tanks stop. Fire pit and picnic table at every site.

The practical bit

Planning your tanks

Read the route north as a tank-management problem and it gets simple. Swan River is the last reliably full-service stop. From The Pas onward you're mostly on power and tanks, with dump stations rather than sewer at the site.

  • Dump at Swan River before the Sep 26 roll — it's on the schedule for a reason.
  • Dump at The Pas before Flin Flon, also on the schedule.
  • Flin Flon and Grand Rapids are one-nighters with no sewer at the site.
  • Thompson is two nights before the train, then five days parked. Leave with tanks where you want them for the run south.

Grey usually fills faster than black, so grey is what runs you out first.
